What you'll accomplish
A 40-SKU catalog refresh used to mean opening one photo at a time, cutting out the background, checking it against Amazon's white-background rule, and exporting it, over and over, for most of a day. Once Photoroom's batch editor is set up, that same catalog runs through in under an hour, with every image getting the same background, positioning, and export size in one pass.
What you'll need
Photoroom works from a phone app, an Android app, or a browser. Pick whichever matches how you shoot: most solo sellers shooting on a phone find the app faster since photos are already on the device.
What you should see: A home screen with a camera icon, a template gallery, and a batch icon along the bottom navigation. Troubleshooting: If you don't see a batch icon, confirm your subscription actually activated. It can take a minute to reflect after payment.
What you should see: A grid of thumbnails showing every photo you selected, ready to edit together. Troubleshooting: If a photo won't select, check that it's not a screenshot or duplicate format the app doesn't recognize as a standard image file.
What you should see: Each product isolated on a transparent background, ready for a new background to be applied. Troubleshooting: Items with fine edges (hair-thin straps, lace, glass, jewelry chains) often come out with rough or missing edges. Flag those images now; you'll fix them by hand in Step 6.
What you should see: A consistent set of product photos, same background color, same framing, ready to export together. Troubleshooting: If one product looks noticeably smaller or larger than the rest after the batch edit, open that photo individually and adjust its scale before exporting.
What you should see: A folder of finished, platform-ready images with no watermark (on a paid plan). Troubleshooting: A watermark on export usually means the batch ran on a free account or a trial that expired mid-session. Check your subscription status before re-exporting.
What you should see: A clean cutout that matches the quality of the rest of your batch. Troubleshooting: For genuinely difficult items (fine jewelry, transparent glass, complex patterns), a five-minute manual touch-up is often faster than fighting the AI tool further.
Photoroom's batch tool doesn't take written prompts the way a chatbot does, but these settings choices work as a repeatable checklist for every new batch:
Background: pure white (Amazon main image standard)
Positioning: product centered, filling roughly 85% of frame height
Export size: match Amazon's minimum main-image resolution
Second export: Etsy/eBay dimensions if the same photo runs on multiple platforms
For a lifestyle or secondary image batch (not the main listing photo):
Background: light neutral or in-context scene
Positioning: consistent across all secondary images for one product
Export size: platform-specific secondary image spec
Quality check before publishing a batch:
1. Zoom into product edges on 3-4 random images, checking for AI cutout errors
2. Confirm no watermark on any exported file
3. Confirm file sizes are within each platform's upload limit
